Fertilizer is an agricultural term used to describe products whose main function is to provide nutrients to plants.

The main nutrients used by plants are primary elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium; secondary elements such as calcium, magnesium, sulfur, sodium; It includes micro elements such as iron, zinc, copper, manganese, boron, molybdenum and cobalt.

Therefore, when fertilizers are mentioned, it should be understood that products obtained by organic means and chemical processes and containing plant nutrients.

Fertilizers, in accordance with the definitions above, found their place in the 31st chapter of the customs tariff schedule. Fertilizers are classified under 5 main headings in the customs tariff schedule. These:

* 3101-Animal or vegetable fertilizers,

* 3102-Nitrogenous mineral or chemical fertilizers,

* 3103-Phosphate mineral or chemical fertilizers,

* 3104-Potassium mineral or chemical fertilizers and

* 3105-They are mineral or chemical fertilizers containing two or three of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Türkiye is a country that imports fertilizers in general. According to Tuik statistics, Turkey exported 146 million dollars of fertilizer in 2016. Our fertilizer imports in 2016 were around 1 billion 275 million dollars.
